Job summary:  Manages all aspects of field operations, including but not limited to:  safety, quality, cost, delivery and leading all field personnel.  Supports and demonstrates “Our Mission, Purpose and Core Values” in lieu of meeting or exceeding customer(s) expectations while developing exceptional people. 

Essential Job Functions:  The following list represents basic job functions for the Field Operations Manager. This does not include all skills or requirements that may be needed or added as each employee advances with GSM Industrial.

  • Field division recruiting/hiring/retaining/leading and engaging exceptional people.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and provides opportunities to field employees.
  • Constructs annual operations planning to achieve company goals or objectives.
  • Ensures the development, communication and compliance of company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with customers, account management, engineering, shop operations and subcontractors.
  • Plans work schedules and staffing needs to meet project requirements.
  • Ensures adequate environmental health & safety training, local, state and federal when applicable.
  • Performs capital equipment requirements planning.
  • Oversees and accurately measures field operations and project-execution performance.
  • Provides on & off-the-job training to develop a knowledgeable, skillful team.
  • Influences the work environment to improve organizational health and team cohesion.
  • Participates in creating estimates, installation schedules and subcontractor coordination.
  • Conducts performance and disciplinary actions as outlined by applicable GSM policies.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate any GSM Industrial vehicle up to 16,000 #s GVW.
  • Follows SOPs and utilize ERP systems.
  • Must be able to safely operate forklift, scissors lift, high reach, etc., in a construction environment.
  • Must be skilled and knowledgeable to safely use and operate hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to read and interpret mechanical schematics, drawings and/or blueprints.
  • Must have advanced mathematical skills so as to be able to measure and layout field dimensions, including measuring equipment (i.e., laser-level)
  • Must be able to perform work in an efficient manner that meets or exceeds expectations, including all applicable content of the GSM quality manual.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours, weekends and holidays as required.


  • Five years of progressive experience in a related field.
  • Four years in a supervisory position.
  • Advanced knowledge of machinery, structural fabrication and/or installation.
  • Supervisory and general computer skills.
  • Must be prompt and dependable per Attendance & Punctuality policy.
  • Must collaborate and demonstrate a positive attitude with fellow employees, supervisors, staff, customers, vendors and other associates.
  • Must know or be able to learn general crane safety and rigging procedures.
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in all industrial and non-industrial environments.
