DESCRIPTION: Primarily responsible for managing the mechanical contracting and industrial steel fabrication and installation needs of a base of accounts.  Also responsible for establishing new accounts with assistance from an Outside Sales Representative.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develops a working relationship with the appropriate people at various industrial businesses and other accounts that require industrial metal or equipment fabrication and/or installation services.
  • Services a base of accounts by evaluating their requirements, determining if the work is appropriate for GSM, gathering sufficient information, preparing an intelligent estimate and presenting an offer.
  • Manages awarded projects through to completion, meeting or exceeding the needs and expectations of the customer and of GSM.
  • Performs or delegates and oversees the following steps: project management, design, engineering, detailing, dissecting, purchasing, fabrication management, shipping and invoicing.
  • Manages an appropriate volume of profitable work which will be determined jointly from time to time based on experience, customer base, areas of expertise, knowledge, economic climate, etc.
  • Seeks to expand scope of work with existing customers and re-develop past customers.
  • Maintains appropriate volume of work by developing new accounts with some assistance from leads generated by an Outside Sales Rep and/or marketing campaigns.


  • Minimum two years’ post high school training and five years’ experience in a related field
  • Industry expertise: understanding of how metal is fabricated and the installation process of projects
  • Knowledge of how fabricated structures and products are built in a shop
  • Mechanical aptitude: understanding of design, assembly and various mechanical processes
  • Project management fundamentals and the ability to learn the estimating process
  • Knowledge of sales techniques and principles
  • Knowledge of sheet metal and steel fabrication and/or installation services
  • Ability to represent and sell the company and its products and services
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and estimate time and materials requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Intermediate mathematics
  • Planning and time-management skills
  • Ability to execute goals and objectives
  • Computer skills
  • Valid PA driver’s license
