Expanding Our Knowledge in Power Generation

GSM Industrial never rests on its laurels.  We know, whether it’s product quality, on-time delivery, employee satisfaction, environmental stewardship, or product offering, there is always the opportunity to reach new levels of excellence.  With this mindset, we are constantly vigilant in examining the marketplace and defining our identity in it.

As an example, GSM Industrial attended and exhibited in the PowerGen 2019 trade show.  The show, held in the nearly one mile long Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, LA, was host to more than 800 exhibitors representing all sectors of the power industry.  The exhibitors included power generation companies, power plant construction companies (EPCs – Engineering, Procurement & Construction), equipment & component manufacturers, even fastener distributors, among others.

GSM attended in order to develop new partnerships with component equipment designers and to learn about emerging technologies that increase efficiencies and reduce environmental impact in power generation. Blending these purposes, GSM looks to find new customers for whom we can fabricate HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generators), Thermal Oxidizers, emission-reducing scrubber system stacks, and evaporators, to name a few.

According to Business Development Manager Joe Daubert, “We are also looking for ways GSM could increase participation in the growing field of renewable energy.”

An equally important agenda was to enhance our knowledge of power plant design and component integration.  To this end, GSM representatives Ryan Thompson, Kyle Dorwart, and Joe Daubert toured the Saint Charles CCG (Combined Cycle Generation) power plant just outside New Orleans.  With construction ending and commissioning/start-up within the past year, this plant represents the latest in power plant technology.  The tour provided many new insights into the future of power generation.

“It was very helpful to see the actual plant in operation with the types of equipment we fabricate,” said Thompson.

GSM views PowerGen 2019 as a successful launch into making many new potential customer and partnership connections with future project prospects and increasing our power generation knowledge.
